Group Training Classes
DogSmith "Drop-In" Classes
Courses denoted by (*) are eligible for "Drop-In" enrollment. "Drop-In" enrollment allows you to register and pay for a course while allowing you the flexibility to complete the 8 classes over a 5 month period by attending any of a number of scheduled "drop-in" sessions that fit into your schedule. You will be given a "drop-in" class card that describes the necessary skills required for the course you have enrolled in and provides a record of competency level achieved for each skill. Check with your local DogSmith to find classes eligible for “Drop-in”
This one time session is a 90 minute discussion for new puppy owners based upon The DogSmith Puppy User Guide.
Puppy Socialization Solutions
This is a one-time orientation lesson for new puppy owners designed to support the socialization of puppies and the education of new owners. Families are encouraged to attend.
Small Paw Etiquette (6 months or less)
This puppy class covers House Training, Crate Training, Bite Inhibition, Responsible Ownership, Leash Introduction and simple commands like Sit!, Down!, and No Jump!.
Teen Dog Etiquette* (6 to 8 months)
For puppies that missed Small Paw Etiquette and for owner who have no verbal control of the dog and/or the dog has little to no social skills. This class covers commands like; Sit!, Down!, Come!, Walk Nicely! and Stay!.
Pet Dog Etiquette* (older than 6 months)
This class is for dogs older than 6 months and includes commands such as; Sit!, Down!, Come!, Stay!, Walk Nicely!, Stand! and Leave It!
DogSmith Solutions*
This comprehensive class culminates with a 10-step test that includes . . .
- Accepting a stranger
- Sitting for petting
- Accepting gentle grooming
- Basic obedience (Sit!, Down!, Stay!, and Come!)
- Polite leash walking (walking through crowds or past another dog)
- Confidence around distractions
- And much more!
Off-Leash Etiquette
This course works on advanced handling, off-leash behaviors like “ out-of-sight stay”, distance recall, off-l leash heeling, and introduces distance and duration to behaviors. This class is designed to enhance owner’s mechanics and gives them a more scientific knowledge of training.
Snap-Back Recall
This class focuses on developing a reliable emergency recall progressing from instant name recognition to a snap-back recall response.
Walk Nicely
This class focuses on taking walking nicely into a more controlled heel behavior. This class is ideal for owners wanting to eventually advance to ring obedience or to take longer strolls with their dogs.
Grumpy Dog and Dog-on-Dog Etiquette
These classes are for dogs that are reactive to other dogs or struggle with their focus in distracting environments.
Dogs with severe aggression are not appropriate for this class. Dogs must have a solid foundation in basic obedience.
Clicks 4 Tricks
This clicker-based class is for owners who want to develop new tricks and behaviors with their dogs.
